Foreign oil tanker seized in the Sea of Oman for smuggling 2 million liters of fuel
Mojtaba Ghahremani, Chief Justice of Hormozgan, stated: As part of ongoing monitoring and surveillance of suspicious activities related to fuel smuggling in the country’s maritime borders in the Sea of Oman, enforcement officers inspected a foreign oil tanker and, due to deficiencies in the vessel’s legal documentation concerning its cargo, seized the ship on charges of transporting 2 million liters of smuggled fuel.

He added: Following the report from the enforcement officers, a case has been filed at the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Jask County, and judicial proceedings regarding the allegations are underway.
The Chief Justice of Hormozgan also noted that 17 individuals, including the captain and crew of this foreign oil tanker, are currently under detention as investigations continue and legal procedures are pursued.

He further pointed out that documentation is being gathered to accurately assess the volume of the ship’s fuel cargo, along with sampling, related tests, and verification of the authenticity of the vessel’s documents. The results of the judicial process regarding this oil tanker will be announced in due course.
In conclusion, the Chief Justice of Hormozgan emphasized that the actions of fuel smugglers, who collaborate with foreign parties to plunder national resources, will not escape the intelligence network of the judiciary and enforcement agencies, and that those proven guilty will face decisive and uncompromising punishment.
