Shocking data on the impact of the Gaza war on newborns
The “Gaza Now” channel, releasing a summary of the damage inflicted on newborns due to the brutal war by the Israeli regime, reported that in the first half of this year, 17,000 births took place in the Gaza Strip.
Among these birth statistics, there were 2,600 miscarriages, 220 cases of fetal death during pregnancy and before birth.
21 deaths occurred on the first day after birth.
67 newborns were born with congenital anomalies (0.39%).
2,535 newborns were hospitalized in incubators due to health problems (14.91%).
1,600 newborns were born with below-average weight (9.41%).
1,460 newborns were born prematurely (8.59%).
Previously, Adnan Abu Hasna, media advisor to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), told Al Arabiya TV that premature babies in Gaza are being born with unprecedented genetic changes.
He stated that 70,000 children in Gaza suffer from malnutrition, and more than 90% of Gaza’s population is affected by malnutrition.
The UNRWA media advisor added: “There are no medicines in Gaza hospitals, and medical staff are exhausted due to the dangerous situation.”
