Da Silva slams Trump: "We don't need global police”
“We are tired of being subordinate to the North. We want independence in our politics. We want more free trade. Everything is progressing in an amazing way. Things are going to get better,” Lula said.
Lula also accused Trump of trying to interfere in Brazil's internal affairs, calling such actions "unacceptable."
In an interview with Brazil's Record TV channel, Lula stated: “He cannot act as if he’s been chosen to be the world’s police. He is the president of the United States and can do whatever he wants over there, but here in Brazil, we Brazilians are the ones who manage our own affairs.”
Lula’s remarks were in response to a post Trump made last Monday on his social media platform, in which he accused Brazil’s judiciary of "political persecution" against his ally, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, and called for an end to what he described as a "witch hunt" against him.
