Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran in rejection of the vile and insulting remarks of the U.S. president against the country’s high-ranking officials

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the vile remarks and unbecoming conduct of the U.S. President regarding the Supreme Leader and the Iranian nation.
These offensive remarks and behaviors, which violate ethical and diplomatic norms, not only constitute a flagrant breach of universal principles and values as well as the provisions of the United Nations Charter concerning respect for the right of nations to self-determination, but also represent a clear instance of disrespect toward a nation with a deep-rooted civilization, offending the sentiments of hundreds of millions of Muslims in the region and across the world.
Undoubtedly, such insulting and bullying rhetoric and actions against Iran and its respected political and religious figures, revered by Iranians and Muslims worldwide, further fuel disgust and hatred toward the shortsighted policies of the United States and undermine the credibility of their claims of willingness for dialogue and engagement.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran advises U.S. officials to refrain from offensive rhetoric and erratic shifts in their positions and instead be held accountable for the United States’ lawlessness and gross violations of international law, including its illegal attack on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities and its support for the crimes of the Zionist regime against the Iranian nation and the region.
