In this context, the Israeli Ministry of Energy issued a warning about an imminent and severe household gas shortage, following Iran’s recent strike on the Haifa refinery, which led to its complete shutdown. The refinery had been the main source of fuel for the local market, particularly household gas across the occupied territories.
According to an official letter sent by the Ministry to gas company executives in the occupied territories, an emergency gas distribution plan has been developed in response to the refinery’s shutdown.
The Hebrew newspaper Calcalist, which obtained a copy of the document, revealed that Israeli households are placed at the bottom of the priority list, meaning they will receive only limited or temporary gas supplies compared to more essential sectors.
