Three decades of Netanyahu’s falsehoods about Iran’s nuclear program

An examination of past remarks by Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Israeli regime, shows that for nearly thirty years he has persistently—and without providing any credible evidence—claimed that Iran is on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons. These predictions have never materialized and have been made solely to incite global sentiment and generate a hostile atmosphere against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In the most recent example, in 2025, Netanyahu once again warned that Iran could "acquire a nuclear bomb in a very short time—maybe within a year, or even in just one month." This comes despite the fact that for years, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has affirmed that there is no evidence of Iran diverting its peaceful nuclear program toward military purposes.
A look at Netanyahu’s past speeches clearly reveals the repetitive and baseless nature of these claims:
2025: "If Iran is not stopped, it could build a nuclear weapon in a very short time—perhaps a year, maybe even less than a month."
2018: "Iran has the technical capability and accumulated knowledge to build a bomb and can do so quickly if it chooses."
2015: "Within weeks, Iran could produce enough fissile material for an arsenal of nuclear bombs."
2012: "They’re very close—only six months away from having 90% enriched uranium needed for a bomb."
2006: "Iran is preparing to produce 25 nuclear bombs per year—250 in a decade!"
1996: "Ladies and gentlemen, time is running out!"
1995: "Iran will be able to produce a nuclear bomb within three to five years without needing external help."
This long list of failed predictions shows that Netanyahu’s warnings have been driven not by factual intelligence, but by political motives aimed at spreading fear and mobilizing the world against Iran.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently emphasized that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful and under the continuous supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Meanwhile, the Israeli regime—which possesses a secret nuclear arsenal and refuses to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)—continues to distort reality in an effort to divert attention from the real threats it poses.
