The political resolution of the IAEA Board of Governors regarding Iran

On Thursday, June 12, the IAEA Board of Governors adopted a resolution concerning Iran.
The draft of this resolution was submitted by the European Troika—namely the UK, France, and Germany—with support from the United States.
The resolution was passed with 19 votes in favor, 3 against, and 11 abstentions.
Previously, the spokesperson of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), in response to a question about Iran’s reaction to a possible resolution by the Board of Governors, had stated: “Last time we warned them, they didn’t listen, and we increased 60% enrichment sevenfold. This time too, we have prepared a list of measures and have informed them.”
Likewise, Mohammad Eslami, Vice President and Head of the AEOI, on Wednesday, June 11, on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting, in response to a question by Mizan News regarding Iran’s response to a possible resolution, said: “As in the past, we will carry out practical and operational steps immediately after the resolution is issued.”
He emphasized: “Whenever the other parties take a confrontational approach, we will certainly respond accordingly. We do not accept any illegal or illegitimate behavior. Iran has always acted voluntarily and in good faith in its interactions with the Agency and these countries. We strongly advise them to abandon this approach and not further damage the credibility and integrity of the United Nations’ institutions.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran also issued a joint statement in response to the adoption of the resolution by the IAEA Board of Governors concerning Iran.
