Hamas is aware of Netanyahu’s plan

In an interview with Mizan, Nasser Qandil stated: “Following extensive negotiations between a Hamas delegation and a representative of Steve Witkoff, the envoy of the U.S. president, Hamas leadership agreed to a formula stating that a 60-day temporary ceasefire would be a step toward a sustained cessation of hostilities and a long-term solution. Negotiations on the conditions for ending the war would take place within those 60 days, and if no agreement is reached, the ceasefire would continue. Hamas would release ten prisoners, half on the first day and half on the last. Witkoff sent the text to Ron Dermer, the Minister of Strategic Affairs in Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet, but Netanyahu made two significant amendments. The first was the removal of the clause ensuring the continuation of the ceasefire if no agreement is reached within the 60-day period.”
The editor-in-chief of Al-Binaa newspaper added: “The resistance received the text, knowing it was crafted in a way that would either force Hamas to say ‘no,’ making it responsible for the failure of the negotiations and providing cover for the continuation of the war and starvation, or to say ‘yes’ and accept a seven-day ceasefire, allowing Netanyahu to end the ceasefire after receiving the second group of prisoners and resume the war with a thousand excuses. However, by insisting on a permanent ceasefire, the resistance demonstrated that it fully understands the enemy’s scenario and will never succumb to Tel Aviv’s manipulations and false dichotomies.”
