Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, attended the ceremony and delivered remarks about Iran’s nuclear industry and the recent U.S. proposal.
He stated that the U.S. plan regarding the nuclear issue is 100% against the motto “We can.” He said: “Thanks to extensive efforts, Iran has achieved a complete nuclear fuel cycle. The nuclear industry is not only about energy; it is a fundamental industry affecting multiple scientific fields.”

Reuters, in a report titled “Ayatollah Khamenei rejects U.S. nuclear demand and insists on continuing uranium enrichment,” wrote: “Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s leader, said on Wednesday that Tehran will not abandon uranium enrichment and rejected the United States’ decades-old nuclear issue resolution request, which he said contradicts the interests of the Islamic Republic.”
Associated Press: Khamenei emphasizes red line expressed in recent days
The Associated Press published photos of the Supreme Leader and featured his remarks on its front page, stating that Iran’s Supreme Leader criticized the initial U.S. proposal in nuclear talks.
The agency wrote: “Ayatollah Ali Khamenei emphasized the red line expressed in recent days—that Tehran will not give up uranium enrichment in any potential agreement with the U.S.”

Al Mayadeen news network, by publishing images of the Supreme Leader, made his statements the headline of its main page. Highlighting his emphasis on Iran’s right to domestic enrichment, they quoted him saying: “Ayatollah Khamenei on the anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s passing: We will not give up uranium enrichment.”
According to the report, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that enrichment is the foundation of the country’s nuclear program and reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to its nuclear rights and independent decision-making.
Al Jazeera: Tehran will not abandon uranium enrichment
Qatar’s Al Jazeera also made this part of the Supreme Leader’s speech its main headline, quoting him saying that Tehran will not give up uranium enrichment.
According to Al Jazeera, Iran’s leader considered the U.S. proposal for a nuclear agreement as contradictory to Iran’s national interests, emphasizing that Tehran will not relinquish uranium enrichment. Ayatollah Khamenei said the U.S. proposal is “completely at odds with our capability and the ‘We can’ spirit,” stressing that Tehran does not wait for a “green light” from Washington for its decisions.
He announced that Iran is now capable of producing nuclear fuel and added that nuclear technology and programs cannot exist without uranium enrichment.
Al Arabiya: Iran’s leader calls U.S. proposal contradictory to Iran’s national interests
Saudi Arabia’s Al Arabiya quoted the Supreme Leader describing the U.S. proposal as contradictory to Iran’s national interests and highlighted this part of his speech.
Al Arabiya titled its report quoting the leader: “Ayatollah Khamenei: The U.S. proposal contradicts our interests. We will not give up uranium enrichment.”
The network’s lead story also focused on the leader’s remarks, quoting him: “The U.S. nuclear proposal contradicts our national authority. The U.S. will not weaken our nuclear program. Iran does not wait for a ‘green light’ from America for its decisions.”
Asharq Al-Awsat: U.S. nuclear proposal contradicts Iran’s national authority
London-based Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat also referred to the Supreme Leader’s comments on Iran’s nuclear issue and the U.S. proposal, with the headline: “Ayatollah Khamenei: The U.S. nuclear proposal contradicts our national authority.”
The Supreme Leader emphasized: “The U.S. nuclear proposal contradicts our nation’s belief in self-reliance and the principle of ‘We can.’”
Asharq Al-Awsat also quoted him stating that Iran has achieved a complete nuclear fuel cycle and is now capable of producing nuclear fuel.
Al Manar: Iran’s response to U.S. bluster is clear
Lebanon’s Hezbollah-affiliated Al Manar news network also reported on the Supreme Leader’s speech on the anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s passing, focusing on his remarks about Iran’s enrichment and the response to U.S. threats. The headline read: “We will not give up uranium enrichment, and Iran’s response to U.S. bluster is clear and explicit.”
The report noted that Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stressed Iran will not relinquish its uranium enrichment rights and said Iran’s response to U.S. “bluster” has been clear and explicit.
Israeli Media: Iran will not abandon uranium enrichment
Media outlets of the Israeli regime also reacted to the Supreme Leader’s statements, reflecting his remarks about enrichment and the U.S. proposal.
The “Times of Israel” wrote: “Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s leader, says the U.S. proposal for a nuclear agreement contradicts Tehran’s national interests, and the country will not abandon uranium enrichment. Uranium enrichment remains a key point of contention in U.S.-Iran negotiations. Khamenei said in his speech that uranium enrichment is still the key to the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.”
“Jerusalem Post” reported, citing Ayatollah Khamenei’s speech: “Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s leader, announced on Wednesday that Tehran will not give up uranium enrichment and rejected the U.S. request, which he said contradicts the interests of the Islamic Republic.”
