Israeli parties plan to topple Netanyahu with Knesset dissolution bill

According to Al Jazeera, Yair Lapid, leader of the Yesh Atid party, stated: "Next week, we will present a proposal to dissolve the Knesset."
The Labor and Yisrael Beiteinu parties confirmed this, with Avigdor Lieberman, leader of Yisrael Beiteinu, declaring: "The October 7th cabinet must be ousted."
Israel’s Channel 12 quoted members of the "Yahadut HaTorah" party, stating that a meeting with the head of the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Security Committee was unsuccessful.
Members of this party emphasized: "The party leader has received instructions to exit the coalition and work toward its collapse."
The Zionist newspaper Maariv quoted a senior member of the extremist religious movement known as "Haredi," stating that current assessments indicate Israel is heading toward elections.
The Israeli regime’s radio and television, quoting the senior Haredi member, reported that the leaders of this extremist movement support dissolving the Knesset, and a related proposal will be submitted to the Knesset next week.
Meanwhile, Maariv recently reported that Benjamin Netanyahu is attempting to sideline former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett from the upcoming elections by changing the electoral threshold law for parties to enter the Knesset. This comes as the Likud party’s propaganda machine against Bennett has been active for months, led by Netanyahu’s associates.
Yehuda Sharoni, a reporter for the newspaper, addressed Netanyahu’s policies today, highlighting his efforts to manipulate the upcoming elections for personal and political gain.
According to the report, two months ago (April), to appease the religious (Haredi) parties and prevent the coalition’s collapse, Netanyahu instructed officials to prepare the 2026 budget by August. It is said that Netanyahu aims to secure the political loyalty of these parties by allocating larger budgets to them through the early approval of the 2026 budget.
Another of Netanyahu’s maneuvers to manipulate the elections is lowering the electoral threshold for parties to enter the Knesset, ensuring that politicians loyal to him, such as Smotrich, can secure seats.
According to polls, if Naftali Bennett participates in the upcoming elections, Smotrich, the Finance Minister, will fail to meet the required threshold, and his party will not enter the Knesset. Therefore, Netanyahu, who is already forming the next coalition ahead of the elections, may change the electoral threshold law to save Smotrich, who has become a loyal servant in the current term.
