Hamas representative in Iran: We hope for a ceasefire in Gaza

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas recently responded to a ceasefire proposal supported by the United States. A senior Hamas official stated that the proposed agreement from Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, offers no guarantees for ending the war.
According to reports, Hamas has still responded positively to the latest proposal sent by Steve Witkoff, despite it differing from an agreement reached with Witkoff a week earlier.
In a statement, Hamas said: "After a round of national consultations, we submitted our response to Steve Witkoff’s proposal. Our response includes a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and guarantees for the flow of aid to the people of Gaza."
In this regard, Khaled Qaddoumi, Hamas’s representative in Iran, emphasized the movement’s seriousness in achieving a ceasefire agreement in an interview with Mizan.
He stated, "We are reviewing the ceasefire agreement between the resistance groups and the enemy, mediated by three countries—Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey—while the U.S. is also a guarantor of this plan."
Qaddoumi further noted that the enemy has now realized it cannot achieve its goals through force, adding, "The occupying enemy understood there is no room to achieve its objectives by force, which is why it has come to negotiations without prior conditions."
The Hamas representative also said, "We can now negotiate with an open perspective. The resistance, with good intentions, released the Zionist Aidan Alexander, who holds U.S. citizenship, and Trump and his team promised to reopen crossings, allow humanitarian aid, and stop the war."
In another part, the Hamas official stated that the Arab world and the international community, particularly the Trump administration, must ensure that their promises are implemented.
He added, "We hope this will happen. Our people, in harsh and difficult conditions, are always awaiting good news. We must achieve a ceasefire, and we are hopeful for it."
