Israel’s deliberate efforts to spread infectious diseases in Gaza

Dr. Munir Al-Barsh, Director General of the Gaza Ministry of Health, stated: “The Israeli occupier is using the new mechanism established for aid distribution in the Gaza Strip as a trap for mass killing and a tool for the forced displacement of its residents.”

He added: “We condemn the international silence regarding the massacres being committed against the starving population of the Gaza Strip.”

Al-Barsh noted that Gaza’s hospitals are facing dire conditions due to a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies. He stated: “The occupiers continue to prevent the entry of approximately 3,000 trucks carrying medical aid, which are available in the Egyptian city of Al-Arish, into the Gaza Strip.”

The Director General of the Gaza Ministry of Health warned: “We caution against the occupiers’ deliberate efforts to spread infectious and epidemic diseases by continuing to block the transfer of medicines and vaccines, leading to the spread of numerous infectious diseases, acute bloody diarrhea, and meningitis, in addition to depriving the population of water security, as 90% of the people suffer from water insecurity.”

The Gaza Ministry of Health also announced today (Sunday) that the toll of the Zionist regime’s aggressive attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to 54,418 martyrs and 124,190 injured since October 7, 2023.

The ministry added that over the past 24 hours, 37 martyrs and 136 injured individuals were transferred to hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
