Baghaei: False claims by Austria’s Intelligence Agency about Iran’s nuclear activities undermine the credibility of the IAEA
Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, described the Austrian intelligence agency's claim questioning the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program as false and baseless, asserting that it was fabricated solely to create a media atmosphere against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Therefore, he stated, the claim lacks any credibility or authenticity.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson, referring to Iran’s membership in the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and the clear fact that Iran’s nuclear program is subject to the most stringent inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency, argued that the Austrian intelligence agency’s actions damage the agency’s credibility.
He emphasized that, unlike Austria and some other European countries that hypocritically remain silent about the Zionist regime’s possession of various weapons of mass destruction—and, through their full support of this genocidal and occupying regime, prevent the realization of a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction—Iran remains a staunch opponent of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction and has consistently been a proponent and advocate of establishing a WMD-free zone in West Asia.
Condemning the Austrian intelligence agency’s spread of falsehoods, Baghaei called on the Austrian government to issue an official explanation for the irresponsible, provocative, and destructive conduct of one of its official institutions.
