Assassination of an honorable judge in Shiraz / New details on the Martyrdom of Judge Ehsan Bagheri

Judiciary Media Center - Seyed Sadrollah Rajaei Nasab stated: This morning, two individuals attacked and assassinated Judge Ehsan Bagheri, head of Branch 102 of Criminal Court 2 in Shiraz, while he was on his way to work, resulting in his martyrdom.
The Chief Justice of Fars Province noted that the assassination took place with a cold weapon during the judge’s commute to work.
The incident is under investigation, with immediate involvement of provincial security and intelligence officials, as well as a special homicide prosecutor from the Shiraz Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the Judiciary Media Center, following the order of the Chief Justice of Iran, special and urgent investigations have been launched to identify and apprehend the terrorists.
New details on the Martyrdom of Judge Ehsan Bagheri
According to precise investigations, Martyr Bagheri left his home at 5:30 AM today to head to his workplace when he was attacked and injured by two unidentified men using a bladed weapon.
Based on the investigations, Martyr Judge Ehsan Bagheri was a dedicated judge who, due to the high volume of cases, worked beyond regular hours in his office, handling cases and issuing rulings late into the evening. His colleagues noted that Martyr Bagheri even took case files home to expedite the process for clients, a priority emphasized by the head of the judiciary. He would study case files at home as well.
The report indicates that after specialized teams arrived at the scene of Judge Bagheri’s martyrdom, several case files were found in his vehicle, which he had taken home to review in order to expedite the handling of clients’ cases.
Martyr Judge Ehsan Bagheri held a master’s degree in criminal law and criminology, was married, and had one child.
Judge Ehsan Bagheri, 38 years old, was born in Mamasani County and had over 12 years of judicial experience.
He served as a judicial trainee from March 10, 2012, to March 17, 2013. From March 2013 to October 2017, he worked as an assistant prosecutor in the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Dena County in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province.
From November 2017 to May 2024, he served as an investigating judge in the Shiraz Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office, later becoming the head of Branch 102 of Criminal Court 2 in Shiraz, until his assassination on the morning of May 26, 2025.
