Details of the new proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza
A senior Palestinian official told Al-Mayadeen that both the Hamas movement and the Israeli regime have been informed of Bahbah’s proposal for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange.
He added that Bahbah presented this proposal in coordination with and approval from Steve Witkoff, the U.S. special envoy to the Middle East.
The official, whose name was not disclosed by Al-Mayadeen, stated that under this proposal, a 60-day ceasefire would be established in the Gaza Strip, and 10 living Israeli hostages would be released in two phases.
According to the official, a complete ceasefire would be maintained throughout the negotiations, with an explicit guarantee from U.S. President Donald Trump.
The senior Palestinian official emphasized that the proposal also includes holding negotiations during the ceasefire to end the war.
The official noted that Bahbah’s proposal further includes a commitment from Hamas and other resistance groups not to threaten the security of the Israeli regime.
On the other hand, the official said that Hamas has proposed a 70-day ceasefire and the release of 10 Israeli hostages, five of whom are alive and five are deceased.
Hamas has suggested handing over the living hostages and the bodies of the deceased in two phases: the first on the first day of the agreement and the second on the seventh day. In return, 1,000 trucks of aid must enter the Gaza Strip daily.
