This goes beyond what we are prepared to negotiate about.”
Details of the fifth round of indirect Iran-US negotiations in Rome
The indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States will take place at the residence of Oman's ambassador in Rome, mediated by Oman's Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi.
The residence of Iran’s ambassador in Rome is approximately 300 meters from that of Oman’s ambassador.
Italy’s Foreign Minister is currently absent from Rome due to a business trip.
Oman has worked to bridge the maximalist positions of both sides. Previously, Iran’s Foreign Minister, in an interview with IRIB, emphasized that Oman’s Foreign Minister had insisted on holding the fifth round of talks.
The main sticking point in the negotiations is the issue of continuing uranium enrichment inside Iran. Baghaei further asserted: "The continuation of US sanctions against Iran only reinforces the deep belief of the Iranian people that American policymakers will stop at nothing to obstruct Iran’s path to development and progress."
He wrote: "On the eve of the fifth round of talks, this action further undermines the seriousness and commitment of the US to diplomacy. Our people are determined to stand firm and resolute against such irrational hostility."
