Killing of 2 Israeli embassy employees in Washington shooting
In the shooting, two Israeli embassy staff members, Yaron Lischinsky (28) and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, were killed. Several others, including Israeli embassy staff, were also injured. Lischinsky worked in the embassy’s political department, and Milgrim was involved in public diplomacy, organizing visits and missions to Israel.
The Washington police chief stated regarding the incident, "The suspect in the Jewish Museum shooting was seen walking outside before the attack and was later apprehended." He added, "The suspect, Elias Rodriguez, 30 years old from Chicago, Illinois, was chanting 'Free Palestine' while in custody."
ABC, citing investigators, reported that the attacker walked around the Jewish Museum, opened fire, then returned and sat near its entrance. Washington police have launched an investigation into the shooting, which occurred near the FBI building across the street from the museum.
Fox News, quoting a security source, reported that the victims were shot at close range, with approximately 10 bullets fired. According to the source, the suspect has no prior criminal record.

U.S. President Donald Trump, reacting to the incident, posted on his social media platform (Truth Social), claiming, "These horrific murders in Washington, clearly rooted in antisemitism, must stop now! Hate and extremism have no place in the United States."
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, "We strongly condemn the killing of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington." He claimed, "What happened was an antisemitic act, and we will pursue those responsible to the fullest extent of the law."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "I am shocked by the horrific antisemitic killing of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington." He also ordered heightened security measures at Israeli embassies worldwide.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stated, "I am in contact with U.S. authorities regarding the attack on our embassy staff in Washington. Israeli representatives are always at risk, especially at this juncture when they face increasing danger."
Meanwhile, the Israeli ambassador to the U.S. said, "Following the shooting near the Jewish Museum, I spoke with President Donald Trump. He pledged to take all necessary measures to combat antisemitism."
