According to Palestinian news sources, one of the Israeli army soldiers, disguised as a Gaza displaced person, attempted to capture Ahmad Sarhan alive.
In the unsuccessful Israeli military effort to arrest the Gaza resistance commander, the Israeli army’s special air forces conducted over 30 airstrikes and artillery attacks on Khan Younis, resulting in Sarhan’s martyrdom and the detention of his wife and children.
Yedioth Ahronoth wrote that reports from Gaza indicate the operation aimed to capture martyr Ahmad Sarhan alive and “extract information” from him regarding Zionist captives.

Later, images from the assassination scene in the Gaza Strip were published, showing Israeli special forces entering Khan Younis with a bundle of mattresses as part of their disguise.
In this regard, Lebanese news sources reported that an Israeli soldier, disguised as a displaced Gaza woman, aimed to capture the martyr alive and attempted to reach the western area of Salahuddin Street in northern Khan Younis. According to Lebanese sources, the Israeli soldier, disguised as a Gaza woman, sought to obtain information about the location of Israeli captives by capturing Ahmad Sarhan but failed.
News reports indicate that the brutal Israeli operation in Khan Younis lasted approximately 40 minutes, with over 30 different attacks targeting the area.
Additionally, Al Arabiya reported early in the morning that a Zionist special forces soldier had entered central Khan Younis to carry out a mission to rescue Israeli captives, and Israeli army ground forces were observed in a “special operation.” Meanwhile, Zionist security officials stated that the Israeli army is in the midst of the “Gideon’s Chariots” operation, but no captives have been rescued as of this morning.
