Iranian nationals detained in the UK have been released

The Iranian Embassy in the UK announced the release of the detained Iranian nationals through a message on the social media platform X.
The embassy stated in its message: According to the Metropolitan Police report on 17 May 2025, all Iranian nationals detained on 3 May on terrorism-related charges have been released. The message continued: Much ado about nothing.
According to British media, the UK police announced that four Iranian nationals, who were detained on suspicion of preparing for a terrorist attack, have been released.
Sky News reported: The four men—a 29-year-old in Swindon, a 46-year-old in West London, a 29-year-old in Stockport, Manchester, and a 40-year-old in Rochdale—were detained under the Terrorism Act.
The police stated that all four individuals were released from custody on Saturday, 17 May.
A fifth man, a 24-year-old detained in Manchester, was arrested under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act and had previously been released on bail.
The police noted that, as part of the investigation, officers continue to search several addresses in Manchester, London, Swindon, and High Wycombe.
The head of the UK Police Counter-Terrorism Command stated in a claim: These individuals have now been released from custody, but our investigation remains active and ongoing.
