Power outage paralyzes London underground

According to a statement on TfL’s website, two Underground lines were completely halted, and three others faced severe delays. Social media images show hundreds of passengers stranded at train stations.
A TfL spokesperson, addressing the disruption, stated: “Due to an issue with the National Grid, all systems were down for a few minutes.” The spokesperson also confirmed that some passengers were briefly stuck in tunnels.
No further details on the cause of the power outage are available. TfL’s spokesperson said efforts are underway to restore Underground services and return operations to normal.
This incident follows a major power outage last month near London’s Heathrow Airport, which disrupted flights and navigation systems at the international airport, intensifying criticism of the UK capital’s critical infrastructure weaknesses.
