Foreign minister’s warning to the European Troika
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, emphasized in a post on the social media platform X: “Any misuse of the snapback mechanism will have serious consequences.” He wrote:
“Iran has clearly stated its position. We have formally warned all JCPOA signatories that any misuse of the ‘snapback’ mechanism (automatic reimposition of sanctions) will have consequences: it will not only end Europe’s role in this agreement but may also lead to escalating tensions with no foreseeable return.”
“The three European countries (E3) must ask themselves how things have reached this deadlock.”
“Following recent consultations with Russia and China, I expressed readiness to travel to Paris, Berlin, and London to start a new chapter in relations. This initiative led to preliminary talks at the level of deputy foreign ministers—a fragile but hopeful beginning. However, time is running out quickly.”
“How we respond to this critical moment will shape the future of Iran-Europe relations far more profoundly than many realize. Iran is ready to turn the page. We hope our European partners share this resolve.”
