88 Iranian prisoners in Malaysia transferred to Iran

The embassy stated: In line with the agreement signed between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Malaysia, and through the persistent efforts of the Iranian Embassy in Malaysia, with the support and coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the judiciary, and the police forces of both countries, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, 88 Iranian nationals detained in Malaysian prisons were transferred to Iran.
Previously, Askar Jalalian, Deputy for Human Rights and International Affairs at the Ministry of Justice and head of the Committee for the Transfer of Convicts, highlighted the expansion of legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries.
He stated: "In response to the humanitarian action of the Malaysian government and within the framework of the convict transfer agreement between the two nations, the Committee for the Transfer of Convicts of Iran’s Ministry of Justice today transferred two Malaysian female prisoners, who were sentenced to long-term imprisonment for drug trafficking, to Malaysian prisons to serve the remainder of their sentences."
Jalalian added: "This humanitarian and human rights action opens a new chapter in legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries, achieved through the commendable joint efforts of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the judiciary."
