Mick Wallace: Zionism is a colonial project of western imperialism

The Zionist regime has consistently received support from Western governments, particularly the United States, since its establishment.
Europe and the United States, built on imperialism, have prioritized comprehensive support for the occupying Zionist regime across political, economic, military, and arms sectors for years and decades.
This support continues despite the Zionist regime committing the most brutal crimes against the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza.
These countries have even criminalized and suppressed peaceful protests against the Zionist regime’s crimes to serve the occupying regime.
In this regard, Mick Wallace, an Irish politician and former Member of the European Parliament, spoke to Mizan’s reporter on the sidelines of the Sobh Media Festival about Zionism and the role of Western countries in the Zionist regime’s crimes. He said, “It’s important to understand that Zionism is a colonial project initiated by Europeans, Americans, and the developed West.”
Wallace, noting that Zionism remains a colonial project, added, “No European government has cut trade with Israel because Zionism is a colonial project for them too; they are part of the problem.”
The Irish politician further commented on the global awakening to the Zionist regime’s crimes, saying, “Millions of people take to the streets every weekend, something we’ve never seen before.”
Wallace noted, “Ireland is a small country and can only play a small role, but in every big and small city in Ireland, protests for Palestine are held every weekend.”
He pointed out that five years ago, if you asked people, “What is Zionism?” 95% wouldn’t know. “But ask people today; everyone knows about it.”
The former MEP stated, “We’ve seen the violence, inhumanity, barbarity, and savagery of Zionism and Western imperialism for what it truly is. We’ve seen it forever; the world’s people have seen it. The world will never be the same; there’s no going back. Today, Zionism has been exposed and revealed.”
He added, “It’s become clear to everyone that Europeans, Americans, and the wealthy part of the world are hypocrites who care nothing for human rights. They don’t care about women; they stay silent when thousands of women are killed in Palestine because it doesn’t matter to them.”
Wallace emphasized, “There are no values in Europe, only interests tied to the U.S. But the people of Europe are different from their governments. Our governments and media are terrible, but the people of Europe see what’s happening. Ninety percent of Europeans are horrified by the actions of Western powers, Zionism, and Israelis.”
The former MEP said, “Believe me, change is hard, but change will come. The world won’t go backward, and Israel has been disgraced forever.”
He noted, “There is no international law today. The best we have is the United Nations, which is very weak.”
Wallace further remarked, “In March 2015, the UN agreed with Obama, the Saudis, Emiratis, French, and British to let the Saudi-Western coalition bomb and destroy Yemen. The UN was part of it.”
He stressed, “Unfortunately, the UN has been hijacked by the U.S. We have no international law, and we also lack European politicians who value human rights, which is a major problem.”
The Irish politician concluded, “No matter what Israel does, European governments remain silent. I’m sorry for this and for our politicians and media. Our media are part of the problem; they are owned by Western imperialism.”
