Lavrov stresses the need to resolve the India-Pakistan conflicts

In a phone conversation with his Indian counterpart, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the escalation of tensions in relations between India and Pakistan following the terrorist attack in Kashmir.
The Russian Foreign Ministry statement said: "The heads of the diplomatic services of the two countries discussed important issues in Russian-Indian relations, as well as the deterioration of relations between India and Pakistan following the recent terrorist attack. During the conversation, Lavrov called for resolving the differences between New Delhi and Islamabad through political and diplomatic means and based on the Shimla Agreement of 1972 and the Lahore Declaration of 1999."
The foreign ministers also discussed important issues of bilateral cooperation between Russia and India, and within this framework, the parties also agreed on a schedule of future high-level contacts.
In addition, the Russian Embassy in Islamabad announced last night that Moscow and Islamabad are preparing for a telephone conversation between the foreign ministers of Russia and Pakistan in the coming days. The embassy statement said: “Active exchange of views is underway, in particular through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and in this regard, the possibility of a telephone conversation between Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Ishaq Dar is being prepared.”
