Meetings of the Deputy for International affairs of Iran's Judiciary with Senior Iraqi Judicial authorities and emphasis on combating terrorist activities

Nasser Seraj, Deputy for International Affairs of Iran's Judiciary and Secretary of the High Council for Human Rights, along with an accompanying judicial delegation, traveled to Baghdad and held separate meetings with Judge Faiq Zidan, President of Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council, Najm Abdullah Ahmed, Iraq's Prosecutor General, Khaled Shawani, Iraq's Minister of Justice, and Judge Laith Jabbar Hamza, Head of Iraq's Judicial Oversight Authority and member of the Supreme Judicial Council. They discussed important legal and judicial matters.
Seraj and the President of Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council emphasized the development and strengthening of legal and judicial cooperation, follow-up on the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries, serious countermeasures against terrorism, the pursuit of the case regarding the assassination of Martyr Soleimani and his companions, and cases involving terrorist groups such as the Monafeghin Terrorist Group, ISIS, Komala, PAK, Khabat, PJAK, and the Democratic Party.
In a meeting with Iraq's Prosecutor General, Seraj discussed several joint cases and judicial cooperation between the two countries, stressing the acceleration of the transfer of convicts and extradition of criminals, particularly members of terrorist groups, as well as the prosecution of suspects in cases related to the Monafeghin Terrorist Group and the 1991 Sha'ban Intifada.
The Iraqi Prosecutor General noted the strong judicial cooperation between the two countries, stating that Iran and Iraq are friends and brothers, with a long history of collaboration that will continue.
During his visit, Seraj also met with Iraq's Minister of Justice, expressing gratitude for the transfer of Iranian convicts to Iran. He highlighted the cooperation between the two countries in transferring convicts and criminals, emphasizing the need to better utilize the existing agreement on convict transfers. Noting the situation of some Iranian prisoners, he requested appropriate facilities for them and the acceleration and expansion of their transfer to Iran.
The Iraqi Minister of Justice affirmed the constructive and longstanding cooperation between the two countries, pledging support and collaboration in transferring convicts and other bilateral legal and judicial matters.
