India’s new decision against Pakistan

India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade declared an immediate ban on the import and transit of goods originating from or exported by Pakistan, which will remain in effect until further notice. In a statement, the agency said: “The direct or indirect import or transit of all goods originating from or exported by Pakistan, whether freely importable or otherwise authorized, is prohibited with immediate effect and until further notice. This restriction is imposed in the interest of national security and public policy.”
According to the Directorate, the ban takes effect immediately and will continue until new directives are issued, with any exceptions requiring prior government approval.
Tensions between India and Pakistan intensified following a terrorist attack on April 22 in the Pahalgam region of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, carried out by a group of armed extremist militants, killed at least 26 people, mostly tourists. A militant group affiliated with the Pakistan-based extremist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba claimed responsibility for the attack.
