India closes airspace to Pakistani aircraft

On Thursday, India announced that, in response to Pakistan’s recent decision to ban Indian aircraft from flying over its territory, it has taken a similar measure and prohibited Pakistani aircraft from using its airspace.
New Delhi informed airlines that India’s airspace is closed to aircraft registered or leased in Pakistan, including military flights, until May 23, 2025.
According to the Al Mayadeen news network, this move by India follows Pakistan’s announcement that it had received credible intelligence indicating India was planning an imminent military attack.
This decision comes within the context of ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, which have persisted since an attack in the Indian-administered region of Kashmir, with New Delhi accusing Islamabad of being behind it.
While Islamabad denied the accusation, the two countries have since engaged in daily cross-border gunfire along their shared borders, as well as measures such as expelling each other’s diplomats and closing borders.
Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian aircraft on April 24.
