Trial of a defendant accused of espionage for the Israeli regime begins at Karaj Revolutionary Court

Hossein Fazeli Harikandi, announcing the commencement of the case at the Karaj Revolutionary Court, said: The defendant, who is an Iranian dual national residing in one of the European countries, was identified and arrested by the Intelligence Organization of the IRGC in Alborz Province on the fourth day of the 12-day war.

He added that based on the investigations conducted and the documents available in the case file, the defendant had multiple meetings with Mossad agents and was also trained in the occupied territories.

He further stated: After two years of communication and training by Mossad officers in the capitals of several European countries and in the occupied territories, the defendant entered the country via an air border about one month prior to the 12-day war in order to carry out his mission. At the time of arrest and also at the villa where he was residing, sophisticated espionage and intelligence equipment were discovered and seized.

Referring to the fact that the case is being heard in Branch Two of the Karaj Revolutionary Court, the Chief Justice of Alborz Province explained the charges based on the issued indictment, stating: The defendant will be tried under the charge of “intelligence cooperation and espionage in favor of the Israeli regime,” pursuant to Article 6 of the Law on Combating the Hostile Actions of the Israeli Regime against Peace and Security.
