Death of 150 children in Gaza from starvation
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Tuesday that among the 453 who have died due to hunger and malnutrition, 150 were children.
The report further stated that since the United Nations declared a famine situation in Gaza, 175 deaths caused by starvation have been recorded, including 35 children.
The Ministry emphasized that the food crisis continues, and the death toll is rising.
The United Nations’ Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) confirmed famine in Gaza on August 22 and projected that by the end of September, more than 640,000 people will be in catastrophic conditions (IPC Phase 5).
According to the UN, more than 43,000 children under the age of five are suffering from severe malnutrition. Most deaths are recorded in hospitals, but Gaza’s devastated health system—over 70% destroyed—makes comprehensive documentation extremely difficult.
