Seraj: Israeli regime’s actions are a clear violation of the UN charter and international law
Nasser Seraj, Deputy for International Affairs of the Judiciary and Secretary of the High Council for Human Rights, provided explanations about this side event on the “Human Rights Impacts of the 12-Day Attack on Iran by Israel and the United States” during the 60th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council in an interview with Mizan News Agency.
Seraj noted that Iran’s first side event session was held, saying: “The session was attended by Iran’s Ambassador to Switzerland, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Judicial Commission, several colleagues, some UN special rapporteurs, university professors, and representatives from allied countries. Speeches were delivered, strongly condemning the crimes of the Israeli regime and the United States. Families of martyrs, including the family of Martyr Sadeghi Sabet—who lost 15 members of their family in a single night—also spoke and presented their testimonies.”
He added: “Mr. Amini and Mr. Hezarjaribi attended the session and, in their speeches, condemned the human rights violations committed by the United States and Israel. It was also highlighted that there is not a single clause in any of the conventions or their protocols that Israel has not violated. Israel has breached all conventions, the IAEA Statute, the UN Charter, and committed numerous crimes, flagrantly violating fundamental principles of human rights. The principles of distinction, precaution, and proportionality were all violated. These violations were condemned during the session, and, God willing, further sessions will be held this afternoon on this matter.”
