Assassination attempt on Yemen’s army chief of staff failed
According to Walla, citing security sources, the operation to assassinate al-Ghamari was carried out but he survived. Israeli media further reported today that Tel Aviv, in response to Yemen’s continued missile strikes, is considering a military retaliation. According to informed sources, the occupying army and the Mossad intelligence agency are compiling a target bank focusing on key centers affiliated with Yemen’s Ansarallah movement.
This is not the first time Israeli media have reported attempts to assassinate Yemen’s military chief of staff. During the 12-day war between Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Israeli Air Force also tried to assassinate Major General al-Ghamari.
In June 2025, Israeli media claimed that Yemen’s chief of staff had been targeted and wounded in an airstrike, but Yemeni sources denied the claim, asserting that he survived the attempt on his life.
Al-Ghamari has served as Chief of Staff of Yemen’s Armed Forces since 2016 and plays a central role in planning and executing Ansarallah’s military operations.
Israel’s latest claims of an assassination attempt come just days after one of the most complex and surprising operations recently carried out by Yemen’s Armed Forces. Despite activating the “Iron Dome,” “David’s Sling,” “Arrow,” and “THAAD” defense systems, Israel failed to intercept or destroy Yemen’s “Palestine-2” missile.
