Judiciary chief emphasizes need to expedite handling of cases linked to Zionist Regime
He stated: "In all circumstances, especially under current conditions, attention and diligence must be paid to the regulation of the market and the prevention of overpricing and hoarding. Unjustified increases in the prices of basic goods and necessities are absolutely unacceptable."
The Head of the Judiciary further reiterated the urgent need to expedite the handling and resolution of cases related to individuals associated with the Zionist regime, saying:
"The cases involving elements linked to the aggressor Zionist regime must be handled with the utmost speed, precision, and comprehensiveness, in accordance with legal standards. Part of the deterrence in this matter depends on swift action. In this regard, the Prosecutor General must follow up on the necessary measures with greater vigor."
He further emphasized: "It is also necessary to explain to public opinion that there are different levels and degrees of the crimes of 'espionage' and 'collaboration with the enemy.' Sometimes, in the public mind, a single, uniform punishment is imagined for all spies, whereas the punishment for espionage is not uniform across the board. According to the law, espionage has different degrees and types: whether it occurred during wartime or peacetime, the level and nature of the information gathered, and so on — all these are considered when determining the severity of the crime and, accordingly, the punishment. Moreover, the crime of 'collaboration with the enemy' is distinct from the crime of 'espionage.'
In any case, these matters must be clearly explained and clarified to the public. I have observed that Mr. Jahangir, in his role as the Judiciary’s spokesperson during his recent briefing, provided a commendable clarification in this regard. While I appreciate his efforts, I strongly emphasize that such clarifications should continue regularly for the general public."
Referring once again to the exceptional unity and cohesion that has taken shape within Islamic Iranian society in confronting the enemy, the Head of the Judiciary stated: "Everyone — especially government officials, authorities, and those with access to public platforms and media — must strive to maintain and strengthen this remarkable unity and cohesion in confronting the enemy. This unity is centered around the leadership, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the country’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty, and the national interest. We must avoid and refrain from anything that could cause division, discord, or fragmentation. We should strengthen the foundations of unity and eliminate the roots of division and discord. We must act upon the Qur’anic commandment, 'Hold fast to the rope of Allah, all of you together, and do not be divided.' We should recognize the truly important matters and not become preoccupied with temporary and superficial issues that lead to disunity."
The Chief Justice added: "The enemy, alongside its other hostilities and acts of malice, is actively pursuing psychological warfare against the Iranian people. The enemy exploits rumor-mongers, liars, alarmists, and devilish elements, alongside its other tools and means, to create artificial polarizations in our society and undermine our unity. Therefore, everyone — especially officials, authorities, and media figures — must remain vigilant in this regard."
The Head of the Judiciary further stressed the need for urgency and speed in advancing judicial matters for the people and avoiding any delays under the pretext of current national circumstances.
He said: "I have repeatedly emphasized — and I reiterate and insist again — that the people's affairs must not be left unattended. We must act with urgency and speed in handling the judicial affairs of the people and avoid delays under the excuse of the country's current conditions. Under no circumstances should the resolution of a case be postponed or unnecessarily delayed, nor should a hearing be adjourned without a clear reason. Judiciary colleagues must bear in mind that even a single day matters to the people. Sometimes, a one-day delay in resolving a case, or even a half-day delay in releasing a defendant who has been cleared of charges or whose detention is no longer necessary, can significantly impact people’s lives.
We must, in gratitude for having such a united, cohesive, and loyal nation, intensify our efforts in the jihad of serving them."
