Another Israeli soldier commits suicide after returning from Gaza
According to the reports, the soldier took his own life due to psychological and mental health issues following his deployment in Gaza. The soldier, identified as Liel Shoham, a resident of Rehovot, committed suicide last night.
The Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom had also reported last Monday the suicide of another soldier named Daniel Edri after his return from the Gaza war. His suicide was attributed to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The Israeli news website Walla wrote about Edri, who set himself on fire, that his psychological crisis began after two of his fellow soldiers were killed during the October 7, 2023 attack (Operation Al-Aqsa Flood), and worsened due to his continued military service on the frontlines in Gaza and Lebanon.
The mother of this Zionist soldier stated that her son served on both southern and northern fronts and had repeatedly transferred the bodies of fallen Israeli soldiers. She quoted him as saying: "Mom, I can still smell the corpses… I see them before my eyes."
