Over 800 British lawyers call for sanctions against Zionist Regime
These prominent figures, in a letter to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, welcomed last week’s joint statement with the leaders of France and Canada, which warned they were prepared to take “practical measures” against the Zionist regime.
However, they urged Starmer to act without delay, as “urgent and decisive action is essential to prevent the destruction of the Palestinian people in Gaza.”
The signatories, including Lord Sumption and Lord Wilson (former UK Supreme Court justices), appeal court judges, and over 70 senior barristers, stated that war crimes, crimes against humanity, and serious violations of international humanitarian law are occurring in Palestine.
The letter noted growing evidence of genocide against Palestinians, either ongoing or at serious risk of occurring, referencing recent statements by Bezalel Smotrich, the hardline Zionist regime’s finance minister, who said the occupying army would “wipe out what remains of Palestinian Gaza.”
