Public anger grows as Trump’s popularity continues to fall
According to the latest survey conducted in October by the National Center for Public Opinion Research and the Associated Press, Trump’s approval rating stands at 37 percent—down from 39 percent in September.
With the “No King” movement organizing nationwide demonstrations, millions of Americans are expected to take to the streets today in protest against the Trump administration across all U.S. states.
The survey indicates that while some describe Trump’s performance on the global stage as “successful,” it has done little to improve his overall standing at home. The Associated Press reports that even some of his own voters believe he should do more to address key issues such as the economy, healthcare, and immigration.
Trump is also facing major domestic challenges: The U.S. government shutdown has now entered its third week, prices remain high for many Americans, and millions more have been affected by cuts to healthcare funding and the closure of hospitals.
According to the Associated Press, Americans do not believe Trump has performed well—even on immigration, which has been a central focus of the Republican president’s agenda.
As for the economy, the main concern of most Americans, only about one-third of U.S. adults approve of Trump’s handling of the issue, a figure that has remained unchanged during his second term.
One of Trump’s weakest areas is healthcare, which has taken center stage amid the ongoing government shutdown. A majority of Americans say their country is heading in the wrong direction.
