Iran’s national weightlifting team won the team title at the 90th World Weightlifting Championships 2025 held in Førde, Norway, scoring 388 points — reclaiming the world championship after eight years.

The 90th edition of the World Championships, which began last week in the Norwegian city of Førde, concluded this Saturday with the heavyweight category. Iran’s National Team topped the final standings with 388 points, securing the overall title.

The Iranian roster featured:

  • Abdollah Beiranvand (79 kg)
  • Eliya Salehipour (88 kg)
  • Ali Alipour and Alireza Moeini (94 kg)
  • Alireza Nasiri and Abolfazl Zare (110 kg)
  • Ali Davoudi and Ayat Sharifi (super heavyweight).

Alireza Moeini claimed gold in the snatch and silver overall, while Ali Alipour earned silver in the snatch. Alireza Nasiri took two silver medals — in the clean & jerk and total.

Although Ayat Sharifi withdrew, Ali Davoudi’s bronze in the snatch was enough to seal Iran’s championship.

This marks Iran’s first world team title since 2017, bringing the nation back to the top of global weightlifting after eight years.
