Trump undergoes medical exam at military hospital
Roughly three months after the White House acknowledged Trump’s illness, the president underwent a second round of medical evaluation.
Ireland’s national broadcaster RTÉ reported on the checkup, describing Trump as “a 79-year-old man and the oldest elected president in U.S. history.”
Following the examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, located just outside Washington, Trump returned to the White House. When reporters asked how the exam went, he simply congratulated them.
Dr. Barbabella, a U.S. Navy captain and the president’s physician, issued a formal letter—released by the White House—stating that the president “continues to maintain excellent overall health.”
According to Barbabella, Trump’s “cardiac age” is approximately 14 years younger than his actual age—an indicator of cardiovascular vitality based on electrocardiogram results.
He added that a series of routine tests were conducted, and Trump received an updated COVID-19 booster shot as well as his annual flu vaccine.
These statements come months after widespread speculation about Trump’s health. In July, the White House officially confirmed that the president had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency—a condition in which vein valves fail to function properly, leading to blood pooling in the veins.
