Ali Larijani appointed Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council

Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, appointed Ali Larijani to the position based on Article 176 of the Constitution, citing his commitment, extensive background, and valuable managerial experience.

In the decree, the President has tasked the new Secretary with the prudent and precise oversight of the Secretariat’s operations and coordination among relevant institutions. He has emphasized the need to monitor and prioritize national security issues and threats—particularly emerging and technological threats—redefine strategic concepts, and adopt an intelligent, people-centered approach aligned with the country’s national security framework, to fulfill the general policies and directives of the Supreme Leader. The ultimate aim is to achieve sustainable security at the national, regional, and international levels.

In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Mr. Ali Ardeshir Larijani,

Pursuant to Article 176 of the Constitution, and in view of your commitment, extensive experience, and valuable managerial background, you are hereby appointed as the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council.

It is expected that, relying on Almighty God and in collaboration with the esteemed members of the Council, you will provide prudent and thorough oversight of the Secretariat’s operations, foster synergy among relevant agencies, monitor and prioritize national security challenges—especially emerging and technological threats—redefine strategic concepts, and adopt a smart, people-centered approach consistent with the structure of national security issues. This should be done in line with the general policies and guidance of the Supreme Leader to help the country achieve sustainable security at national, regional, and international levels.

The goal is to safeguard the Islamic Revolution, uphold the nation’s dignity and interests, preserve national unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.

All matters related to national security must be reviewed and formulated exclusively through the Secretariat. I pray to God Almighty for your increasing success in fulfilling this important mission, and I also extend my gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Ahmadian for his valuable and sincere services during his tenure.
