A Foreign national acquitted of espionage charges by Bandar Abbas Revolutionary Court
Mojtaba Ghahremani stated that the individual had been arrested during the 12-day imposed war on charges of espionage. Despite the arrest under wartime conditions and the issuance of an indictment, the case was thoroughly examined and reviewed by the Bandar Abbas Revolutionary Court.
He noted that although the indictment had been issued by the prosecutor’s office, the Revolutionary Court—considering legal principles and doubts about the alleged offense—ruled in favor of the defendant’s acquittal. According to the law, however, the prosecutor retains the right to appeal the verdict.
Ghahremani emphasized that the judiciary’s mission, in line with the directives of the head of Iran’s Judiciary, is to uphold the law and ensure justice. He added that the implementation of justice in the Islamic judicial system is regarded as a fundamental and noble value, and that the unfaithful and double-standard behavior of some foreign governments toward the Iranian nation will not undermine the principles of impartiality and the rule of law in judicial proceedings.
He further stressed that the Judiciary of Hormozgan Province will continue to address cases involving spies and infiltration agents in accordance with the law and with due diligence, and that in cases where criminal acts and espionage activities are proven, decisive action will be taken.
